Kia ora friends and whanau of the R. Tucker!

What a wet day today has been. We woke to the lovely sound of raindrops on the deck and frosty breath, so the swim was optional this morning. Kailani and LJ were very brave and went for a swim in the rain, with a hot shower to warm up after.

Then chores were done and a nice warm breakfast was eaten. Haydon was doing some interesting combinations, eating marmite and baked beans with wheetbix on toast, wow delicious.

After breakfast dishes, trainees split up into their teams and went through engine checks, weather and anchor duties. Then we went for a big sail, with trainees putting their new lines knowledge to the test.

After tacking many times up to our night anchorage, everyones hands and feet were reasonably frozen so we pulled down the sails and anchored up at Opunga cove.

Some bookwork was done and some rice bubble honey slice was crunched in between lessons.

Then it was time for hot soup and fluffy scones. Yum!

After lunch, we all went ashore at Orokawa and had a go at walking around the rocks and checking out the rock pools.

Then we had a wet and wild, bumpy ride back to the ship. Now we are about to eat a big hot dinner of corned beef, with lots of laughter and chats coming from the saloon.
