YTH 1912 Rua Ra

Ahoy from the R Tucker Thompson

Despite the dull weather, today has been full of learning and laughter.

Our morning started off at 0700hrs with a quick swim in the chilly, brisk ocean shortly after followed morning a duty which consists of scrubbing the decks, polishing the brass and cleaning the head.

After a nice warm breakfast was made and was enjoyed by all and then we had a lesson about fishing regulations and line handling Both Leyla, Olivia and Jack picked up on it really quick. Once we learnt a bit more about the halyards, downhauls and sheets we raised sails and went for a cruise to Urupukapuka Bay.

Upon arrival we had some sausage sizzle for lunch and we then journeyed ashore to stretch our legs and play some games. We played many games which consisted of much teamwork and leadership tasks- there was lots of competitiveness and laughter some of the standouts came from Havanna, Matthew and Kate. We then got into groups and had a sand sculpture competition. Oliva & IIyas came 3rd, Kokopeta and Liam came 2nd and our winners were Tamara and Lexis with their turtle and jelly fish creation.

Later on we made our way back on board and enjoyed some chocolate cake and hot chocolate that was made by Kokopeta and Jason. After we all gathered around the table and played some card games while avoiding the rain, once cleared we raised anchor and made our way back into the shelter of Pipi Bay where we will be spending the night.

We are all looking forward to our delicious chicken dinner and what the rest of the evening and tomorrow brings.
