YTH 2005 Wha Ra

Kia Ora from the good ship R Tucker Thompson

Sorry we did not get a blog out last night. We were anchored in Parekura Bay and did not have reception last night. We had an epic 18 nautical mile sail over from Te Puna Inlet and a lovely afternoon swim and rope swing. Many adventures more…. that we will tell you on our return.

This morning we woke up in the beautiful Bay of Parekura with the sun rising over the hill as Tonee was first that jumped in the water, which was warmer than expected, for our morning swim.

For the morning, we split off into our Port and Starboard watches and Starboard went up the rigging to complete the tucker challenge, while Port rowed little Tuc around and learnt how to drive the dinghy with the outboard before swapping over.

After picking up the anchor, we made our way to Urupukapuka Island and went on a hike to Otehei Bay to see the Project Island Song hut. There we learned about their mission on the Island, before making our way back to the ship.

We got to enjoy some of Sarah, Lily and Ross’ brownie with a hot chocolate on the way to Motuarohia Island, where we are staying to anchor for the night. Everyone on the ship achieved the Tucker Challenge today and enjoyed the lovely weather. There is lots of laughter and music now, as the group cements into a team and finds their comfort in shipboard life.
