YTH-2101 Ono Ra

Kia Ora from the R Tucker Thompson,

Another day in paradise, today the trainees took charge. We woke up to the lovely sound of banging pans and spoons. Shortly after came the morning swim, followed by a lovely hot shower on deck. After another beautiful breakfast, we weighed anchor, hoisted the sails and set course for Moturua. Winds were light, but the spirits high as we cruised back across the bay. The trainees set the course, kept us on course, ran the deck and organized the day. When we arrived back at the islands, little tuck was launched and rigged. There was a lovely sailing breeze, and the small boat was getting along beautifully. Lunch was enjoyed on deck in the sunshine, followed by a dive. Trainees not diving stayed behind and enjoyed some time up the rig, climbing and stowing our topsails. We then moved to our anchorage for the night, Manawaora bay. Once safely at anchor, we had a delightful debrief and got in a final lesson. As we look forward to roast dinner, the ship is alive with trainees singing, chatting, and looking up at the stars.
