YTH-2107 Ono Ra

Kia Ora Whanau.

T’was a soggy day today. We started the day with a swim in the rain, which was quite magical actually. After duties and breakfast, we rolled into some baking and painting. Great wet weather antics!  A knot lesson brought us through to lunch time. After lunch we stowed the ship and the decks for a bit of a mission. The wind was blowing between 40-60 knots, with consistent rain as we headed out of our storm anchorage to start the journey home. It was a pretty exciting sail. We had only a reefed fore sail up and were getting along at about 6 knots. Woo hoo. We caught a fish and rolled over some heavy swells as we rounded Tapeka. The trainees were up for the challenge and were loving it up on the bow sprit. After a few hours at sea, we arrived at our anchorage at Matauwhi bay. We all changed out of soggy clothes and enjoyed a nice hot drink and leftover muffins from this morning. The team are in good spirits, looking forward to a nice roast dinner.

Until Tomorrow, Ma Te Wa.
