Kia Ora Whanau,

Today was one of those absolutely magic days onboard. We woke up a little bit early this morning (at 6.45 (gasp)) to fit the usual morning routines in.  At around 8:30am we hauled anchor and moved over to the Russell wharf. At 9:30 we began to welcome our 17 guests onboard for the day, a group of Northland special Olympic athletes, absolute legends. Our wonderful trainees ran the day, from welcoming our visitors onto the ship, to sailing the R Tucker and many things in between. The day went superbly and there was a wonderful energy on the ship. Highlights included climbing the rigging, pulling sails up and down, a stop over at Motuarohia island and even a cheeky lunch time swim. Leadership and teamwork was seen time and time again today and we couldn’t be more proud of our unit. Thanks to all those who came and spent the day with us, it has been a memorable one for sure. Burgers are on the menu tonight, looking forward to a feed, a sleep and another epic day tomorrow.

Love to all,

Ma Te Wa.
