YTH 2113 Day 2

enjoying a boat ride on a river

It was a beautiful sunny morning out here on the water with the trainees entering the deep blue just after 7:30am for their morning swims followed by a quick hot shower, after the morning duties and a decent brekkie we hoisted anchor and set a course towards the hole in the rock- On arrival we launched the tender and all the trainees had a turn at going through the hole in the rock which they had heaps of fun doing.
Between the hole in the Rock and our next anchorage around the corner we had a delicious lunch of soup and Mac and cheese.
And on arrival to our anchorage the trainees all got ready to go for an awesome dive.
Kieran got a huge packhorse crayfish within 2 minutes! How crazy! Zhynaliyah, Nikitah, Ryan, Rawhiti, Karli, Reuben, Luis, Wano all helped with the dive as well, in the end we gathered around 12 crayfish, and obviously because it was too much as some of the crays were almost half the size of our trainees, we put most of them back and ended up keeping 4 which we plan to have with garlic butter for dinner.
Salous, Jackson and Ngakau went for a swim off the ship, chilled in the hammock that we have set up in the sun and helped our crew in the galley by doing some baking.
For our final leg for the day, we put the trainees into groups of 3, we had lessons on line handling and each group had to manage and hoist a certain sail. They were all very fast learners and we a super proud of the team and how well they can pick up new things on the ship.
We are now anchored in Whangaruru Bay for the night with a scrumptious dinner awaiting us and the trainees all mingling and having fun overall the day was awesome!
