Today we were welcomed onto our new home with great excitement. After our pōwhiri we played games, said goodbye to our loved ones and sailed down the river. We cut across the bay past the Black Rocks. With the great sailing conditions we hit a top speed of 9.2 kts screaming back toward Moturua Island. Underway we munched on mac n cheese for lunch, learnt how to handle lines, a walk through of the ship and climbed the foremast. As we drifted around the eastern side of Moturua Island it was time to drop all sails. We are now tucked away in Awaawaroa Bay for the night. As the sails are being stowed, the smell of cooking mince and onions streamed through the ship, it’s nacho night! Tonight we will get to know each other more and learn about life on the ship. Today was an amazing first day and we can’t wait for tomorrows adventure. Pō mārie
