YTH 2502 – Rā Tuarua/ Tuatoru– Day 2/3

Day 2 we started with our first morning swim on what was an incredibly still morning, once dry and warm we got straight into our sail stations and our morning chores. After breakfast we all put on harnesses climbing the mast and completing a “up and over” from there we made our way to deep water cove for a chance to go snorkelling in the marine reserve, lots of fish and even crayfish were spotted! After a fantastic hot soup for lunch we set sails and made our way towards cape Brett, we even had the pleasure of dolphins riding along side us whilst we sat in the bowsprit, before launching the tender and going through the hole in a rock and making our way to the calm anchorage of Whangamumu harbour.

Day 3 Today started with a morning swim as the sun rose & orange light lit the harbour, we made the most of the nice weather using the morning to catch some fish and head out for a hike to a white sandy beach on the other side of the peninsula, once back at the boat we were served a tasty fried rice from the skipper, before preparing ourselves to go for a dive to collect more Kai Moana , the crystal clear water meant we returned with a sack full of Kina and crayfish for all, with time to spare before our huge feast of a dinner we headed to the local waterfall for a refreshing fresh water swim. As the sun started to set we lifted anchor and set sail ready for our night sail back around Cape Brett to Paradise bay, in preparation for our morning with Project Island Song tomorrow

Photos to come once we have the camera sorted again! Until tomorrow, mā te wā
