Kia Ora from the good ship R Tucker Thompson

Today has been a full on day full of adventure and excitement. Our day started at 0700hrs with a morning swim in the surprisingly warm water. Shortly after followed morning duties and a delicious breakfast of porridge and left over dinner.

Dishes done, anchor up, sails up and we journeyed our way around rakaumaungamaunga and down the coast towards Whangaruru. Along the way we had a few short scenic views such as the hole in the rock and even saw an albatross.

After a battling 4 hours of sailing in the rough seas and gusting 30kt winds we made it safely into the harbour. With the sun peeking out we took the opportunity for some of the trainees to complete the tucker challenge (climbing the rigging and making their way out to the end of the yard arm.) Rihari, Helana, Harper, Jordyn, and Emma completed the challenge and have earnt their turks head braclet. While some were climbing others such as Mark, Cooper, and Te oranga went for a row around in little tuc.

In the late afternoon Ngapera, Anika and Willow made a chocolate cake which was devoured as soon as it came out of the oven. Shortly after we went to shore to stretch our legs and have a few team working activity’s/games led by Wiremu.  With everyone tired and on the ground we made our way back to the ship and moved up the harbour for our anchorage tonight.

Now everyone is down below nice and warm playing card games and bantering. All looking forward for what tomorrow brings us.
