Kia Ora From the R Tucker Thompson

To start off this fine day we woke up at 0700hrs for a refreshing morning swim in the wonderful waters of Awaawaroa Bay, with Anika first in the water. The trainees then got introduced to morning duties to keep the ship tidy and looking beautiful.

After breakfast, we got into line handling lessons, then weighed anchor and executed a man overboard drill. We then raised the sails and headed out of the Bay and up north with the wind in our favor. Our Helmsmen today were Frieden, Sophia and Boston.

Lunch was eaten underway and we stopped at Matauri Bay for the afternoon. While there we went ashore for a hike up the hill to the Rainbow Warrior memorial and enjoyed the spectacular view.  Zara, Anika, Cajun, Brody, Sophia, Sapphire and Boston climbed up the monument while the rest stayed with their feet firmly fixed to the ground. (Climbing is welcomed by Chris Booth who designed the sculpture).

When back on the Ship we motored to Mahinepua for our night anchorage where we are now devouring Jess’ delicious dinner.

Goodnight all,

Po Marie
