Kia ora from the tucker
Today went absolutely fantastic. In fact, the ice has definitely been broken between these 12 awesome trainees, and the shy start to fade away for the most reserved.
The day has begun with the daily morning swim, it was hard to get them out of the water and then into ship cleaning chores. After breaky, we all went ashore for a beautiful hike around Urupukapuka island, with bacon and egg sandwiches for lunch. Whitiora and Patricia tramped successfully after their early reservations about the distance and briefly Noah stopped talking .
Back to the ship after 4h walking, they all went for a swim around the ship and finally a well-deserved hot shower.
Anchor is pulled up in the afternoon, our next stop, Deep Water Cove. Awesome breeze underway, and all the sail are set, Sarah mastering the art of sailing to windward under Emma’s tuition. Everyone is starting to have an understanding of how the sails work, and Maia and Kailah mastering the anchor winch system as we anchored for the night ready for a dawn start out to Cape Brett.
So far, Peter, Noah and Emma and Sarah have climbed up mast out to the end of the yards completing their Tucker Challenge.
The trainees are bonding so quickly and full of good spirits.
Looks like more breeze tomorrow.
