Yth 1804 tahi ra

Today is the start of the R tucker Thompsons Tai Tokerau Challenge – youth voyage 1804.
With a very interactive start the trainees made new friends very easily. As we left the dock, we hoisted the fore sail and gathered round the helm for a name game. The trainees then un-packed their bunks which was then followed by a safety orientation for around the ship. We anchored up in Waiiti bay before enjoying an amazing lunch of macaroni and cheese. We launched the tender and gathered all the trainees before heading to the beach to complete the loop walk around Moturua island. Once we arrived back on the ship the trainees were given the chance to climb up the rigging and everyone gave it a go! We have now just lifted anchor and are heading towards our night anchorage in Orokawa while the beautiful smell of spaghetti Bolognese fills the ship. Crystal completed the call to Russell radio for the night and everyone is in the saloon with large smiles and laughter while playing cards. We have an action packed week coming ahead so we will keep you up to date with all the exciting activities we have planned.

Goodnight!
