Today started with the usual morning swim, morning duties and then straight into breakfast.
Wiremu, Tomas, Mahina, and Manaakitia completed the checks before starting up the engine. We then hoisted anchor and headed towards our days destination in Waiiti bay. With Ngaroma behind the helm the trainees all completed a class on knots before arriving and dropping anchor.
The trainees had the opportunity to either complete the tucker challenge, go for a row on lil tuck, or create our picnic lunch.
We launched the tender and headed towards shore for an island walk.
With a quick lesson of biosecurity we were off, stopping along the way at the top of Mangahawea we had a beautiful view with our lunch before proceeding and finishing the loop track island walk.
On arrival back at the ship we decided to head towards the back of Motuarohia island, also known as Roberton island for a quick afternoon dive. Tomas, Walli, Wiremu, Taedyn, Ashton, Ngaroma, Erikah, Eden and Mahina all enjoyed diving for kinas while Jon, Keyah and Manaakitia helped Captain Sarianna bake a cake for lunch. Back on the boat Jon and Tomas enjoyed doing manus off the boat and everyone enjoyed hot showers. We had some time for afternoon tea before hoisting the tender and anchor and set a course for our night anchorage in Goodfellows.
The trainees are now working in their work books while we wait for dinner.
Goodnight!
