YTH-2010 Toru Ra

Kia Ora from R Tucker Thompson

This blog is written by Kane, Paikea & Ella.

Today started out with a 7am splash with Rahul in the water first. After morning duties and our big feed, we learned how to navigate with a chart in our two groups with the help of our tutors Jess, Pete, Michelle and Wayne. Taunga, Harry and Rahul braved the Tucker challenge while the rest caught the rays or went swimming in the crystal waters of Awaawaroa Bay.

After lunch we zipped over to Motuarohia island for a hikoi up to Cook’s lookout before it turned cloudy as. We played Kite and the chicken game that’s a traditional Hawaiian game that Kane taught us before going back on the ship. We hoisted sails and drifted around for a while before arriving in Paroa Bay for the night. Overall today was very enjoyable and we can’t wait for the upcoming events.
